What the Jays need to do 2007/2008 off season

First of all the Jays need a pure lead off hitter they say speed wins a game,and I think Carl Crawford will be the best fit in a Jays uniform or maybe even Juan Pierre.I think to get either of these two they would have to part with Reed Johnson and one of there many young pitchers like a Jansson,Litsch,McGowen someone like them.The D-Rays and Dodgers have lots of speed so I can see them trading either player I mentioned.

To get the off-season started the M's decided to sign OF, Jose Guillen, then just 3 days later Seattle bolstered their rotation by adding veteran right-hander, Miguel Batista, then 5 days after that they traded Emiliano Fruto and Chris Snelling for Jose Vidro. They cooled off for about a month, then on the 5th of the new year Seattle added Chris Reitsma and 20 days after that they signed veteran RP, Arthur Rhodes to a minor league deal for his 2nd stint in the great Northwest. And then just a day or two ago the Mariners signed Jeff Weaver to a one year deal. Also in between those signings in December and January they M's traded Rafael Soriano to get Horacio Ramirez.

Shame on MLB for letting this story leak about Barry Bonds having dropped speed. You cannot tell me that that he was the only player caught last year using speed. I think this is becoming ridiculous and I believe it is time for Bud Selig to move on.

Who is the best first baseman of all time?

Cap Anson may have been the greatest first baseman of them all. He was certainly the greatest player of the century - the 19th century, that is, in my opinion. A stern, iron-willed leader, with great abilities. He had an unmatched sense of integrity and discipline. He led the NL in hitting 3 times and was the first PLAYER to get 3,000 hits. In all but two of his 22 NL seasons, he topped .300. He led the league in RBI four times and five times drove in more than 100 even though teams played fewer than 100 games each season until 1884. We rarely discuss these player and it is a shame. If you enjoy baseball and the past of baseball, research this, you will be astonished.

It is funny how a player can fall from the grace and love of all fans with just the simple passing of time. When Mark McGwire left baseball after the 2001 season there were many fans in tears to see a legend go. People wondered who was ever going to fill the gap in Major League Baseball with McGwire’s departure from the game. Who would carry the torch that he carried for the last few seasons of his career? Will there ever be another dominate hitter like McGwire? There were so many questions at that time that no one had any answers for. Have all the questions been answered? Yes they have, but the answers were just as corrupted now as they were then. The only problem was no one knew that these questions were so corrupted. People never wanted to believe that McGwire could ever be linked to something as disturbing as steroid use.

Andy Pettite back to the Bronx

Andy Pettite just signed a 1 year contract worth $16 million and will be back as a Yankee. Alot of people wonder if Roger Clemens is going to follow him back to the Bronx.

Pettite was 37-26 in three seasons with the Astros.
